LaVar Ball, however, wasn’t impressed. In fact, for the first time in what feels like ever, Lonzo Ball’s dad’s comments were pretty accurate…

“Point guards ain’t judged on stats, they’re judged on victories.”
There is some balance in this situation. You shouldn’t overreact after Lonzo’s poor stats in game one, and you shouldn’t go overboard after the Lonzo Ball triple-double.
His triple-double was very impressive, especially considering NBA summer league plays just 10 minute quarters. Lonzo managed the feat despite having 18 less minutes in the game. At the same time, this is still summer league. Some of the players he was facing will not be on NBA rosters let alone make a strong impact.
For now, just appreciate Lonzo’s performance for what it is. Another step forward in Lonzo’s career, albeit just in summer league.
And as for LaVar, it seems as though he is starting to come further down to earth as Lonzo plays more games.
